In a unexpected crossover event that defies traditional expectations, Ubisoft has revealed an virtual crossover between Assassin's Creed Shadows and the renowned anime series Attack on Titan. The unexpected Thanksgiving event continues from November 25 through December 22, providing free additional story content for Shadows players.

Peculiar Questline Disclosed

According to the authorized statement, "A mysterious encounter pulls heroes Naoe and Yasuke into a fresh mission, where rumors of prohibited ceremonies and fearsome changes echo through the shadows." The storyline features a "strangely attired woman named Ada" who tasks the characters with traveling into the Crystal Cave—a important location from Attack on Titan—to rescue her friend from a clandestine group.

The mission centers on "strange experiments and a fearsome foe" and is available to all players who have gained access to the Yasuke character.

Familiar Places and Transformations

The teaser highlights the Subterranean Sanctuary from Attack on Titan recreated as the Crystal Cave. This important location was previously where the Reiss royal family passed down the Founding Titan ability through generations. The preview finishes with a striking moment showing a character, presumably the hostage, transforming into a Titan that rises over Naoe and Yasuke.

Exclusive Rewards and Additional Material

Players who finish the mission will obtain an special katana in addition to several artifacts hidden throughout the area in hidden chests. The update also contains in-store Attack on Titan item packs, featuring:

Latest Free Story Addition

This update also brings the game's third no-cost story addition, titled "The Mystery." Loyal to its name, "The Mystery" also includes a fresh environmental puzzle that may finally shed light on some unresolved questions from the main storyline.

This marks hardly the primary time the Assassin's Creed franchise has crossed over with well-known anime properties. The series earlier featured a 2020 cross-promotional story uniting Assassin's Creed: Valhalla with Makoto Yukimura's Vinland Saga. Furthermore, Valhalla subtly included a quest that clearly echoed the famous series One-Punch Man.
