Roughly 50 vehicles have been covered with what seems to be human bodily fluid in the Germany's city of Hanau near Frankfurt, police confirm authorities.
Automobiles, walls and postal boxes were marked, sometimes with Nazi symbols, they stated in a official communication.
Officers state they were notified in the late hours on Wednesday night, when a resident discovered that a car in the Lamboy area of Hanau had been smeared with a reddish-hued fluid.
The liquid had been applied in the shape of a banned symbol, they reported.
Officers then located numerous other vandalized automobiles and building exteriors in the nearby vicinity.
These symbols are banned in Germany under laws prohibiting the visible presentation of Nazi-era symbols.
Police state early analysis suggest the liquid was probably human blood.
"Currently there is no clue as to its origin; authorities are not yet cognizant of any physical harm in relation with the incident," they added.
Local authorities said they were attempting "to resolve the case" and have appealed to the public for tips.
An important political figure said the attack rendered him without words and needed to be resolved promptly.
"This act strikes at the very heart of Hanau and reawakens the trauma of the right-wing attack in 2020," he stated on social media, referring to the death of nine victims by a assailant focusing on people of immigrant origin in 2020.
